The Wikimedia Foundation has released an offline Wikipedia for Schools selection which carries articles on over 5500 topics and can be burned to a DVD for offline reading.

Notice that the 'Wikipedia for Schools' version is only recommended for use by students of age 8-18 as it only consists of topics relevant to their education, however in my future posts I will be sharing a tip to download a full offline-version of Wikipedia for offline reading.

Just a few clicks is all it requires to recover the disc from almost all kind of damage situation; be it corrupted, lost data, unreadable or defective.
DiskDoctors is another popular company, which offers both software and solutions to recover data from a scratched CDs and DVDs

General Tips:
* Always wipe the CD from the center outward with straight spoke-like strokes. Wiping CDs in circles will create more scratches.
* Do not scratch the graphics layer as you cannot repair the disc.
HINT: Hold the disc up to a light with the graphics layer facing the light source. If you can see light thru the scratches at any point then the disc may be irreparable and or exhibit loading or playing errors.
* Clean your Disc players lens regularly with a suitable product to ensure optimal viewing pleasure.
* Make sure to use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean both sides of the disc. Wipe in a straight line from the centre of the disc to the outer edge.
* If wiping with a cloth does not remove a fingerprint or smudge, use a specialized DVD disc polishing spray to clean the disc.

One of the oldest firefox extension I am using from long time is Google’s browser sync. If you access internet from multiple location like home, college, office, etc, you can install this firefox extension at all places.

Once installed it keeps synchronizing your firefox bookmarks, history, saved passwords, cookies & session (i.e. tabs & windows).

Do not worry much about security. The extension itself is protected by your Google account login and password plus a 4-digit PIN. Also sensitive data like cookies and password are by default encrypted.

The extension is free as like most Google services. If you have large number of bookmarks you may notice slight delay at first synchronization, but after that it works like a charm! :-)

Additionally, if you have a dual-boot machine with any OS combination you can use this extension to sync firefox in every OS. Although on dual-boot machine there is slightly geekish way to do this which also sync installed add-ons, greasemonkey scripts and anything else which this extension skips.

Simply close your messenger if it is On and then follow the following steps :

1. Go to Start --> Run . Type regedit, then enter.

2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_ USER --> Software -->yahoo -->pager-->Test

3. On the right page , right-click and choose new Dword value .

4. Rename it as Plural.

5. Double click and assign a decimal value of 1.

Wow you finished it.
Simply start the messenger and login your account.

again click on the Yahoo messenger (From wherever you have started it last time)
Voila !!

Keyboard shortcuts

* CTRL + Mousewheel up/down: Change the font size in a conversation window.
* CTRL + E: Center text
* CTRL + R: Right justify text
* CTRL + L or CTRL+J: Left justify text
* F9: Open Gmail to send an email to the person you talk to
* F11: Start a call
* F12: Stop the current call

Step 4: Assuring protection from some known bugs/hacks.

Securing BSNL Broadband Login:
Many have reported that BSNL Broadband's username and password can be hacked easily,though the company may protect you afterwards,still I wish that you should check your security first.

1.Go to router page of your modem. Usually http://192.168.1.1/ will do it.
2.Enter username 'admin' and password 'admin'.
3.If you are not able to login stay tension free,your chance of getting hacked your broadband account is minor.
4.If you can login then please change your default password from settings.

I will update all security bugs which affects normal man's life as I get.

Step 5: Remember Security Tips To Stay Safe

» Profile with personal info - Available to public, some information can be kept private.

Never give your complete address in public.
Remember to hide your pin code. As it’s a very easy field if someone wants to pin-point your location.
Also hide your phone number or better don’t disclose it on orkut.

» Photo on the Profile - Available to public

It is always better not to share your photograph.
Even then, if you decide to put one, put a long shot, in group and no close-ups.
Never put your passport size photo. It might be used to make forged passport of some gangster or a criminal who may look similar to you.

» Orkut Albums - Available to Public, Can be Kept Private

If you have uploaded your pictures in orkut albums then you must block strangers from viewing it.
You must avoid uploading your images since you cannot be sure if orkut privacy features are really secure?

» Scrapbook : Scraps Your Friends Write for You - Available to Public, Can Be Blocked

Never disclose private data like phone number, email address, postal address etc. on the scrapbook.
Never discuss your personal life, like your family life, your girlfriend or boyfriend names etc.
Make Sure you hide your scrapbook from strangers and allow only friends to write in your scrapbooks.

» Testimonials (from friends) - Read only for public, friends on list can only write.

Accept testimonials only from friends you have seen and you know them personally.
You can even delete an existing testimonial you already accepted.

» Your Friend list on Orkut - Available to public

There is nothing much you can do with this, as there is no control at your end to restrict the view of this.
Add only the friends you know to avoid misrepresentation of you as well as your profile.

» Communities - Available to Public

Even here you cannot control the access to your communities, which is a major drawback. For instance, you are a guy from New Delhi, India. You shall join the community dedicated to it. This shall reveal your information that you stay either near New Delhi and you were in India, even if you have tried to camouflage your information using above steps.

»Orkut Misuse Craps - Some people's cheap tricks

Some people make cheap craps to hack you or increase their community members.You should never run any javascript while browsing orkut whatever it claims may be it promises to give themes or hack other's password i.e. Your 10 friends' password.Remember you will loose your own account via doing this.

»Greasemonkey Scripts - Beware they can also hack

Never install greasemonkey script without knowing it.Always check script's source before installing and if you don't know it please consult any expert.

This means your personal data is at risk and can be misused. Phone numbers can be used for cold calls, email accounts can be spammed, photos can be misused, and personal data can be used to create other accounts and so on…

Although Orkut can be fun, it could a place for spammers or hackers or anonymous people to grab your personal details and use against you, you just need to be little careful to avoid your personal data from getting misused.

» Don't share

Keep your username, password and personal information secret and change your password regularly.
Remember this line:Treat your password like your toothbrush. Don't let anybody else use it, and get a new one every six months.
» Don't script

Never paste a URL or script into your browser while logged into orkut.com -- no matter what it claims to do. Don't click on links in emails that claim to be from orkut or Gmail. Scan your computer regularly for viruses, spyware, and adware.

» Don't spread

Never enter your Google Account login and password on sites other than orkut.com and other Google properties. Never check "remember me" when you're on a shared computer.
